How Do I Call Someone Using the Gmail App?

To make voice or video calls from the Gmail app, follow these steps:

1. At the bottom of the Gmail app, tap Chat.

If the Chat option is not visible, navigate to Menu > Settings. To enable Chat, select your account and tap it.

2. Select the contact you wish to contact.
3. To make a voice call, tap the Phone, or to make a video call, tap the Camera.

The call will begin within the app once the recipient accepts. For voice calls, the duration of the call is displayed at the top of the screen. If the recipient does not have the Gmail app installed, their phone will not ring, but they will see that you attempted to contact them.

If the person does not respond, a notification will appear in their Chats. Similarly, if you miss a call, you’ll receive an alert in Chats.
